Chapter 2: Fateful Encounters is a Story Quest in Final Fantasy 7 Remake. Quests are various tasks that players can be obtained throughout the game by some events or various NPCs. Story Quest are mandatory to complete Final Fantasy 7 Remake.

Chapter 2: Fateful Encounters Walkthrough

• Use the Escape Route
  
  • Once you start Chapter 2, before you turn right from the collapsed route, you'll find a chest that has 2x Potion.
  • Through the door that Jessie destroys, another cutscene will trigger. Before going up the stairs, there's another chest that has 1x Ether.
  • Jessie gives you a Healing Materia once you reach the town of Sector 8 which also gives you a tutorial of how to link materia to your weapons and armor.
• Reach the Sector 8 Station
  • In the town, walk towards the left side. In front of the "Arcade" building, there's a chest beside a white car which contains 2x Potion.
  • As you progress forward, you'll see Jessie calling you out from above to look on the upper right side. Head up the stairs on the right and you'll find another chest containing 3x Grenade.
• Follow Him
  • As you progress through the area, a cutscene will trigger where Cloud sees a vision of Sephiroth, simply follow him until you trigger another cutscene. There aren't any items here that you can pick up, unfortunately.
• Taking a Detour
  • Once Cloud has recovered, go down the corridor path and head up the emergency exit stairs and climb up the ladder. Go around the rooftop section, and on the right side of the stairs, you'll find another chest containing 3x Potion.
  • Continue going down the stairs and the ladder where you'll reach Loveless Street. Follow the marked objective and a cutscene will trigger where you'll first meet Aerith.
  • During the cutscene, Aerith who is tagged as the "Flower Peddler" will hand you a Yellow Flower. Choose the option "How Much?" and she gives it to you for free. You'll need the flower later on in Chapter 3: Home Sweet Slum.
  • Shortly after, a group of Security Officer enemies will appear and you'll have to fight them off. 
• Evade Pursuers
  • Once you've defeated the first group, head to the east path and you'll encounter two Security Officer and a Guard Dog. Kill them and pick up the HP Up Materia that's behind the white vehicle. You won't miss it. Also, behind the car, there's Shinra boxes that you can destroy
  • Next, from where you met Aerith, check the alley where she ran towards to, the path is blocked but there's a chest that you can find containing 1x Hi-Potion.
  • After grabbing the item, head to the opposite side of the alley and you'll encounter two Security Officer and a Grenadier. Kill all enemies and pick up the Deadly Dodge Materia that's on the left side of the blue vehicle.
  • From there, turn to the left side of the street and you'll encounter 2x Guard Dog and 1x Security Officer, you'll find a chest at the end that has the Accessory: Power Writstguards.
•  Fight through the City
  • Now, head to the fountain plaza and fight through a couple of waves of enemies. First will be 2x Security Officer and 1x Guard Dog, next is 4x Security Officer and 2x Shock Trooper, followed by a group of Security Officer enemies.
  • After clearing all the enemies, follow the marked objective which leads you to a ladder. Before climbing it, there's a chest near it containing 2x Grenade. There's also an alley on the left side of the ladder, you'll find Shinra boxes that you can destroy
• Climb to the Roof
  • While you climb up the ladder, the Shinra troops will start to shoot at you. Once you reach the other side of the rooftop area, you'll find another chest containing an Armor: Iron Bangle. Before you proceed further, you'll want to equip the bangle and try linking it with materia.
• Break the Blockade
  • From here, follow the marked objective and climb down to the other side of the rooftop area. You'll arrive back on the streets of the residential area. Here, you'll have to fight off two Security Officer and a Riot Trooper. The Riot Trooper has a large shield, so attacking it from the front will just deflect Cloud's sword. You will need to attack it from behind or use Fire against them since the enemy is weak to it.
  • Proceed to the next section and you'll encounter Security Officer and Grenadier enemies along the way. You'll also find Shinra boxes that you should destroy. It may have some items apart from mako shards.
  • Eventually, you'll reach an area where you'll come across a Grenadier and two Riot Trooper enemies. After killing them, check the left side of the tables and chairs to find another chest containing 1x Ether.
  • Next, follow the marked objective and you'll encounter 1x Riot Soldier and 2x Guard Dog along the way, defeat the enemies and check the right side first, between the parked cars, there are Shinra boxes that you can destroy, and on the left side, there's a chest next to a truck containing 1x Hi-Potion.
  • As you continue down the street, you'll be ambushed and blocked by more Shinra troops. Simply survive and fight the Security Officer, Riot Trooper, The Huntsman, and Grenadier enemies. The Huntsman is just a strong variation of the Riot Trooper, but you still need to attack him from behind and you can also use Fire against him.
  • After defeating the enemies, a cutscene will trigger where we see Cloud jumping onto the top of a moving train.
• Last Train
  • After the cutscene, simply follow the group, work your way through the cabin, and speak to Jessie, Wedge, or Biggs if you want. Eventually, you'll trigger a cutscene when you reach the next cabin of the train with Barret.
  • Once the cutscene, speak to Barret, then Jessie to complete the chapter.
