Notes & Tips

  • Party
    • Cloud
      • Weapon: Twin Stinger (Reprieve)
      • Armor: Geometric Bracelet
      • Materia: HP Up, Steadfast, Warding, Subversion, Enemy Skill (learn bad breath from malboro), Luck Up, Revive, Healing, Elemental + Fire (on armor, absorb hp from bomb)
    • Aerith
      • Weapon: Reinforced Staff (Reprieve)
        Armor: Chain Bangle
Materia: Magnify + Healing, Revive, Magic Up, Magic Up, HP Up, First Strike, Ice (for bomb), Barrier (for beast), Binding
    • Barret
      • Weapon: EKG Cannon (Reprieve)
        Armor: Force Bracelet
Materia: Steadfast Block, Revive, Time (so important), MP Up, First Strike, Cleansing, Luck Up, HP Up, Warding, Subversion
  • Strategy
    • General
      • Make Barrett Party Leader
      • Cast Haste on Aerith and Cloud, use Aerith to cast Barrier, Regen, or Lustrous Shield depending on fight, use Cloud for damage
      • Cloud will be idle while Barrett and Aerith are building ATB for buffs, it is okay to keep him at 2 ATB to solo heal himself or team members
        • Cloud's MP was 100+ at the end of the fight, while Aerith and Barrett's were both very low by the end.
    • Bomb
      • Barret casts Haste on Aerith, Aerith Casts Barrier on Cloud (and others if needed),
      • Barrett uses Steel Skin, Aerith uses Arcane Ward, Cast Blizz upon ATB regeneration.
      • Switch to Cloud and destroy - with elemental + fire on armor, Bomb essentially heals Cloud. Easy fight.
    • Tonberry
      • Lustrous Shield blocks Scourge!!!
      • Haste Aerith and Create a Lustrous Shield for Barrett and Aerith.
      • Then switch back Barrett and cast Resist on Aerith and Barrett to block the slow if they get hit by scourge anyways.
      • Between 3 Revival Earrings and having Revive on all 3 party members, you should be able to power through this fight
      • once staggered, cast Stop to delay his stagger - with Aerith's Ray of Judgement and Cloud's Infinity, he should go down.
      • You don't need to heal against Tonberry - his substansial attacks are all instant death + Cloud and Barrett deal more damage when they are low hp. It's actually better to keep HP low vs. Tonberry.
    • Bomb & Tonberry
      • essentially repeat
      • focused down Bomb first and just chain casted Lustrous Shield + Resist to ignore Tonberry until after Bomb was defeated.
    • Type 0 Behemoth
      • Haste party with Barrett, Barrier Party with Aerith, Regen Party with Aerith, Steelskin with Barrett, repeat as neccesary.
      • I think if your Barrett has 9,999 HP, steelskin, and Barrier, then Lifesaver could allow Cloud to play more aggressively here.
      • I was running low on MP with Aerith at this point so was using Fleeting Familiar a good bit then just saving the ATB for when needed.
      • I recommend attacking Lower Body first. After your second stagger, you can finish off the Horn.
      • ONCE THE HORN IS DOWN, Cast Arcane Ward then have Cloud cast Firaga plus Aerith Blizzaga in the ward and he should die.
    • Malboro
      • Barrett needs to continuously be casting Resist on all heroes, Aerith heals.
      • I found having Haste on Barrett and Aerith to be most effective to keep healing and ailments up, especially because I was running on about 30 MP at this point (I overused Haste and Barrier on last phase of Behemoth).
      • Once Party Members were buffed with Resist, Regen, and Haste, it's time to go pretty aggro on Malboro. Of course you should dodge damage when possible.
      • Once his pressure gauge is about half from basic attacks, Triple Slash, Maximum Fury, Fleeting Familiar, etc., then I used Arcane Ward Firaga to stagger, then Ray of Judgement + Firaga in the ward to kill And that was that.

Just completed Monsters of Legend with the following setup and general strategy - note all but my warding materia is maxed out. Completion Time was around 16 minutes; although, that's misleading because it took 3+ attempts plus 2+ hours of planning and research on Materia Builds and Strategy. Hope this helps! Accessory: Revival Earrings on all party members. I used Summons and Limit Breaks as available and felt they didn't seem to have a major impact. I used Fat Chocobo on Tonberry and Ascension to kill the second Lower Body regeneration on Behemoth, but neither felt vital to an inevitable winning strategy. Cloud - Weapon Twin Stinger (Reprieve - use a Chadley to reset upgrades to unlock for 100 gil if neccesary) Armor: Geometric Bracelet Materia: HP Up, Steadfast, Warding, Subversion, enemy skill (to learn bad breath from malboro), luck up, revive, healing, elemental fire on armor (to absorb hp from bomb) Aerith - Weapon: Reinforced Staff Armor: Chain Bangle Materia: magnify, healing, revive, magic up, magic up, hp up, hp up, first strike, ice (for bomb), barrier (for beast), binding, first strike Barrett - Weapon: EKG Cannon Armor: Force Bracelet (reset weapon with Chadley to unlock reprieve for 100 gil if needed) Materia: steadfast, revive, time (so important), MP Up, First Strike, Cleansing, Luck Up, HP Up, Warding, Subversion General Strat: Make Barrett Party Leader, Cast Haste on Aerith and Cloud, use Aerith to cast Barrier, Regen, or Lustrous Shield depending on fight, use Cloud for damage. Because Cloud will be idle while Barrett and Aerith are building ATB for buffs, it is okay to keep him at 2 ATB to solo heal himself or team members. Cloud's MP was 100+ at the end of the fight, while Aerith and Barrett's were both very low by the end. On Bomb: Barret casts Haste on Aerith, Aerith Casts Barrier on Cloud (and others if needed), Barrett uses Steel Skin, Aerith uses Arcane Ward, Cast Blizz upon ATB regeneration. Switch cloud and destroy - with elemental + fire on armor, Bomb essentially heals Cloud. Easy fight. Tonberry (the stupid demon) - HUGE TIPS: Lustrous Shield blocks Scourge!!! Haste Aerith and Create a Lustrous Shield for Barrett and Aerith. Then switch back Barrett and cast Resist on Aerith and Barrett to block the slow if they get hit by scourge anyways. Between 3 Revival Earrings and having Revive on all 3 party members, you should be able to power through this fight. Last tip on Tonberry, once staggered, cast Stop to delay his stagger - with Aerith's Ray of Judgement and Cloud's Infinity, he should go down. Last, Last Tip: You don't need to heal against Tonberry - his substansial attacks are all instant death + Cloud and Barrett deal more damage when they are low hp. It's actually better to keep HP low vs. Tonberry. Note - I also considered casting berserk on the Tonberry while staggered to double damage, but found it wasn't worth the MP nor was it neccesary. For Bomb and Tonberry fight, essentially repeat. I focused down Bomb first and just chain casted Lustrous Shield + Resist to ignore Tonberry until after Bomb was defeated. Type 0 Behenmoth Monster: Haste party with Barrett, Barrier Party with Aerith, Regen Party with Aerith, Steelskin with Barrett, repeat as neccesary. I think if your Barrett has 9,999 HP, steelskin, and Barrier, then Lifesaver could allow Cloud to play more aggressively here. I was running low on MP with Aerith at this point so was using Fleeting Familiar a good bit then just saving the ATB for when needed. I recommend attacking Lower Body first. After your second stagger, you can finish off the Horn. ONCE THE HORN IS DOWN, Cast Arcane Ward then have Cloud cast Firaga plus Aerith Blizzaga in the ward and he should die.
