Strategy Writeup
Prioritize breaking Darkstar's tether by using Focused Thrust on Rufus. This will break the link and cause Darkstar to be pressured. Using additional attacks on Darkstar here will not immediately incur a counterattack from Rufus. Running a mastered Elemental materia in your armor (paired with a Lightning materia) will allow you to regain health from their Thunder + Thunderclap attack. After Darkstar reaches half health, Rufus will begin attacking more aggressively.
Once you defeat Darkstar, Rufus has him withdraw. Rufus is quick and hard to predict, try to keep moving to avoid his attacks. Use your block to reduce the damage from his weapons, and use healing spells/items if necessary. The window of opportunity to deal damage is when he reloads. In addition, connecting with Braver will cause him to instantly stagger which leaves a large opening to deal significant damage.
